4m3b Homemade Napkins

Homemade napkins are a favorite of mine. They are fun and easy to make for yourself or for a priceless gift. Find a pair of coordinating fabrics and create your own mix-and-match napkins and even a tablecloth too. Bias tape makes an eye-catching and easy contrast for the hem, and also keeps the edges from curling and wrinkling in the wash. I loved the look of this Soup Fabric for a tablecloth and this Utensil Fabric for napkins. Makes me want to make a big pot of chicken soup, slurp it up, and dab the corners of my mouth with a fabulous homemade napkin!

Here's what you'll need to make your own:

1 fat quarter per napkin
2 yards of extra wide, double fold bias tape per napkin

1. Begin by cutting fabric into 16 x 16 squares.

2. Pin bias tape around the perimeter of each napkin.

3. Sew around perimeter and trim threads.

For tablecloths, use this helpful tool to calculate how much fabric you'll need for your table depending on size and length. Cut to size, then pin and sew coordinating bias tape to the perimeter of the tablecloth.

Have you made homemade napkins before? Which fabrics would you choose?
